WATCH: A look back at Hazel McCallion’s 36 years as mayor of Mississauga.

TORONTO – The political career of Hazel McCallion is nearing the end as the Mississauga, Ont. mayor chairs her final council meeting this week before the municipal election on Oct. 27.

“Hurricane Hazel” is one of the best known and longest-serving mayors in Canada, having been elected in 1978.

The 93-year-old is currently finishing off her last term as leader of the sixth largest city in the country.
