SASKATOON – Frost advisories have been issued most of central and southern Saskatchewan including Saskatoon and Regina.

The combination of a cold airmass and clearing skies will result in temperatures falling below the freezing mark tonight.

Crop damage may occur in frost-prone areas.

Environment Canada recommends people cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas.

Some areas may see the mercury dip a few degrees below zero, raising the risk of the potential for a killing frost Thursday morning.

For many areas, this is the third night in a row frost advisories have been in place.

A cold front that moved through earlier in the week caused temperatures to nose dive and stirred up snow across parts of southwestern Saskatchewan Tuesday and Wednesday, making the second last week of summer seem much more like winter in some areas.

Weather Advisories for Frost are issued by Environment Canada when temperatures are expected to the reach freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
